ABOUT THE INSTITUT PIERRE JANET

The Institut Pierre Janet, its journal Janetian Studies, and its website were inaugurated in Paris in April 27, 2004.

The meeting was held in the builing of the association L'Elan Retrouvé, which kindly gives its domiciliation adress to the Institut Pierre Janet, and his representant was thanked for this.

The meeting was a friendly event gathering people with different Pierre Janet related concerns, and coming from various countries (France, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands). Supporting people of the Société Pierre Janet (1970 - 1998) were present, which allowed a warmful hommage to their past work. A great joy for the assembly was the simultaneous presence of Pierre Janet's two grand-children, N. Janet and E. Pichon, as well as some other members and friends of Pierre Janet's family. Research disciplines represented were psychology, history of psychology, clinical psychology, and psychiatry.

Jean de Verbizier made the link between the Société Pierre Janet and the Institut Pierre Janet, recalling the editorial achievements of the Société and supporting the new Institut.

Isabelle Saillot introduced the state of the art in janetian research worldwide, giving the Institut Pierre Janet its place among those emerging initiatives.

Gerhard Heim, Serge Nicolas, Lucien Oulahbib and Onno van der Hart explained how their researches relied on Pierre Janet's results, showing his utmost importance for nowadays debates in the academic field.

N. Janet read some unpublished Pierre Janet's letters to his family, which the audience greatly appreciated.

A dinner among some of the attendants prolonged this pleasant evening.
